Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the impacts of the process of automation of the productive process on workers' health, considering biomechanical, cognitive and organizational aspects. Methodologically, an observational, descriptive and qualitative research was carried out. Data collection instruments included direct observation of work situations, the Typical Day Timing (CDT) technique and the consultation on absenteeism worksheets (documentary analysis). The automation of productive processes impacts the health of the worker, and can be beneficial or harmful. As benefits, we observed a significant improvement of the biomechanical aspects and some criteria of the organizational aspects. In relation to the cognitive aspects and absenteeism, the negative impact could be perceived. It is concluded that in the search for modernization, companies are engaged in automation. However, tied to this idea, the concept of maintaining the well-being of workers and working conditions compatible with physical and mental balance should be advocated.
