Abstract
Hospital infections have for years been a serious public health problem, especially in patients admitted to intensive care units. In this sense, during the process of nursing care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), there are several situations, but these occurrences become an important means of hospital infection. In view of this problem, the following investigative themes were elaborated: of the nursing team in the prevention and control of hospital infection in the ICU: a bibliographic survey. Hospital infection is one of the main causes of death in intensive care units, representing an increase in hospitalization time, greater morbidity and mortality rates, and a high cost for institutions. This research had as objective to carry out a bibliographical survey about the performance of the nursing team in the prevention and control of hospital infection in emergencies and emergencies in the ICU. It is a bibliographical research using sources of scientific articles, manuals of the Ministry of Health, scientific works and books. The study sought to identify the methods used by the nursing team in the prevention and control of hospital infection during emergencies and emergencies in the intensive care unit. Thus it was concluded that the adoption of aseptic techniques and the adequate use of antimicrobials are the ideal way to reduce the occurrence of infections and deaths in intensive care units.
